“‘I Hope I Get It’: Job Market Helpful Hints and Resources”
September 21, 2024
Part One: The Academic Job Market
Part Two: Alt-Ac Careers
This event will be held on Zoom.
This event will be focused on theatre studies in general, not specifically musical theatre and/or dance studies. We welcome all of our colleagues to join.
This roundtable will feature colleagues who can speak to a variety of circumstances and experiences. The presenters have jobs in tenure track appointments, visiting professor positions, alt-ac jobs in cultural organizations and libraries. They have been on the job market within the past five years and some as recently as this past year; some have also recently served on a hiring committee. They have a variety of personal circumstances that include the freedom (or lack thereof) to move anywhere in the country, caretaker obligations, geographic boundaries, and/or concerns about living in states with hostile laws and policies. Our hope is that this session will offer insight into the current job market, provide some tools and resources to help you during your job search, and open up the possibility of how your academic background can be situated in alt-ac jobs.
As with all of MTDA’s digital programming, this event will be free of cost. There is no membership requirement. Everyone is welcome.
